IRCAM

It is an honor to be selected as a Visiting Student Researcher by the France Stanford Center and to carry out my research in technology and music at the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustic/Music, the worldʼs largest research center dedicated to both musical expression and scientific research in Paris. This research will allow me the opportunity to acquire real, technical autonomy with a number of computer programs on IRCAM software such as Max, OpenMusic, Modalys, AudioSculpt, and Spat. I will gain hands-on experience with these tools, attend workshops on composition and improvisation with electronics, and attend meetings with the instituteʼs research teams and leading composers in the field. Furthermore, I will be working on a compositional project which will be presented in concert during the ManiFeste Festival at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS. The knowledge and experience that I will gain from my research at IRCAM will directly relate to my studies at Stanford and my focus on the impact of electronic music on contemporary composition techniques. I hope to enhance my musical thought towards the science of music and electro-acoustical compositions through my research at IRCAM.
