Stéphane Tirard
Stéphane Tirard is Professor of History of Science at the University of Nantes. He originally specialized in biology and received his Ph.D in epistemology and history of science from the Université Paris VII – Denis Diderot in 1996. He joined the University of Nantes as Associate Professor in 2001 and later as tenured Professor. He was Director of the François Viète Center for Epistemology and History of Science and Technology from 2006 to 2015. His work has focused on the history of biology during the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 2015, he has concentrated on medical topics. He currently leads the interdisciplinary program DataSanté devoted to the study by humanities and social sciences of the relationship between big data and precision medicine. Since 2017, he has been editor-in-chief of the Revue d’histoire des sciences.
